Visa in Hand

Today, I went back up to Boston to get my Visa. The original plan was that we would get the Visa and have lunch in Boston then get back to Rhode Island in the early afternoon. But upon arriving at the Consulate, the security guard told us Visa pick up happens after 2:30. So, we ended up having three and a half hours to kill in Boston. When we went back to the office, it turned out I didn't even need to be present to receive the Visa. But I'm not complaining, I got to miss school and go to Boston instead! So now I have my Visa in hand, hence the title of this post.

Last weekend I had my Pre-Departure Orientation. It was so cool! I met a bunch of other exchange students, including another Rhode Islander going to France. Actually meeting other AFSer's made the whole thing seem way more real. There were three returnees there who gave us some insightful information on being an exchange student and told stories about their own experiences abroad. I can't believe in two weeks I'll be on a plane to France!!!!

So I guess next time I post it will be from France!
